28 July 2010Excellence in Stroke Care Award – Theresa JacksonWe are extremely proud of Theresa Jackson for achieving this big accolade. Thérèse has worked in the areas of stroke and neurosciences for most of her career. She has a special interest in acute stroke & rehabilitation and in the management of complex physical and cognitive disorders. Thérèse has published articles on adult apraxia and has recently contributed to two textbooks; Head Injury – a multidisciplinary approach and Occupational Therapy for Stroke. Amongst her many achievements, being one of two Consultant OT’s, the lead AHP for stroke services in Grampian , the Occupational Therapy advisor to the Scottish Government; National Advisory Committee for Stroke to name a few, she has also been the Chair for COTSSNP which was then called NANOT. 12 May 2010Occupational Therapy for People with Parkinson’s: Best Practice GuidelinesThe guidelines have been developed from available evidence, best practice agreed by consensus and informed by the opinions and experiences of people with Parkinson’s. The guidelines are structured to allow easy application in clinical practice.The guidelines include an overview of Parkinson’s, including medical and surgical interventions measuring Parkinson’s and the impact of Parkinson’s on occupational performance. Four key areas highlight easy to apply best practice guidelines and include specific strategies for initiating and maintaining movement, optimizing activities, supporting participation and end of life care.
