We’re always here to support you and your wellbeing. Many of you have shared with us pressures you’re experiencing at work and personally. We hear you – and are here for you.
Our team will listen and talk through any workplace or professional issues you have – you can contact our Professional Practice Enquiries Service by phone or email.
Connect with us or colleagues at one of our networking events and share your experiences and find support.
As an RCOT member, you’re also a UNISON member and can use their There for You support service. You can access confidential support for personal difficulties, financial assistance and debt advice.
We’ve also shared small ways you can support your wellbeing and handle stress.
Keep life varied
Try to keep a balance of different activities. Block out time outside of work for doing activities you enjoy.
Be active
Exercise has been shown to reduce stress and improve wellbeing. It doesn’t need a gym or to take up lots of time. Add a quick 10 minutes of exercise – such as a brisk walk, dance to your favourite music or one of these accessible, at-home exercise ideas.
Connect with others
Prioritise spending time with people who you feel positive and supported around, who listen to you and who make you feel good about yourself. Go for a walk, do an activity together or have a chat on the phone.
Enjoy ‘me’ time
Spend time doing something you enjoy by yourself. Or make the most of those alone moments in your day such as your drive to work or supermarket shop – listen to a podcast, call a friend, enjoy a coffee.
Talk to colleagues
Share with your line manager or a trusted colleague when you’re finding work overwhelming. Together you could identify priorities to focus on, new ways of working or other sources of support.
Have fun
Remember the things you enjoy doing – and set aside time to do them! Remind yourself of the fun things in life.
Highlight the positives
Write down three things that went well, you’re grateful for or you enjoyed at the end of your day or week. Have these on your phone or in your bag to remind yourself of the positives when things get overwhelming.
Do what works for you
Different things work for different people. If something doesn’t work for you, that’s okay – try something else.
