A separate MH and LD trust in Wales
There is currently a proposal to reorganise the Welsh mental health and learning disability services and create a MH and LD trust to cover the whole of Wales. MH and LD services are currently together with physical services so this may be a substantial change. Please see the attached document for more details.
As you may have various views on this, we have set up a discussion forum on the COT website so you can debate the issue of a separate MH and LD organisation for Wales if you wish. If you click on the link below you can go to the discussion forums - scroll down to find ours and then you will need to register to post messages.

Subject: Sandwich Scholarshp
"My name is Mariana Salles, I am Brazilian and an Occupational Therapist, I am currently getting my doctorate at the Nurse School atthe Psychiatry Nursing Department, at USP - the University of São Paulo - in São Paulo , Brasil.
The reason I am writing to you is that I would like to do a doctorate training period in England (sandwich scholarship). My intention is to do data analysis relating to my thesis guided by a professor who studies social inclusion or daily life in the mental health area.
My subject is the study of the advances on social inclusion of people with metal illness who are under treatment at day hospitals. I study how social inclusion happens in the service users' daily life and what is the importance and the role of the mental health services and the community concerning their social inclusion. I will use the qualitative methodology led by the Agnes Heller's concept of daily life as the basis for the research.
As you are acknowledged by the British Association of Occupational Therapists as a reference in the Mental Health' Specialist Section, I wonder if you would be so kind as to recommend a professor who would supervise my studies or a college where I would find research areas related to my interests.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon, I thank you in anticipation.
Regards,
Mariana Moraes Salles"
